Your Safety is important to us.
How we are responding to the COVID Crisis.

The COVID-19 pandemic has rocked our nation to it’s core. We don’t take it lightly, and our hearts go out to all who have been affected by this crisis. Countless Americans have been in the fight of their lives – economically, mentally, and physically. There are no words to describe the devastation – but Flow Hair bar stands with you, right in the middle of it all.

We pride ourselves in operating ethically, and we were one of the first salons to close our doors when we were made aware of the virus. Recognizing the impact of this to our staff and our community, we chose safety over profitability. And, as hard as it was to withstand – we would do it all again. Now, our state is slowly reopening – with restrictions – and we have explored countless ways that we could accommodate our clients, in the safest manner as possible.

Flow will be opening our salon following Prince Georges County’s plan for a phased re-opening. We are awaiting the Governor and County executive’s final decision on how soon that date will be. In the meantime, we have established a protocol that prioritizes the safety of our clients and staff. We will be making the following changes to ensure that we are opening in a safe manner:

Here’s our plan:

  • Until further notice, services will be by appointment only with Phase 1 offering appointments on Friday-Sunday only during our normal weekend hours. We are reserving walk-in appointments for our senior clients only, as they may not be familiar with on-line booking. If we are at capacity when a senior arrives, we will accommodate them at the next available opening. When reserving an appointment, you will be asked to leave a $25 non-refundable deposit which will go towards your service.
  • We are scheduling clients at set intervals to limit the number of clients and needed staff in the salon at one time. To ensure that we can provide needed services safely, we ask that you are on time for your appointment. Please do not come earlier or later than your scheduled time without calling. If you are unable to arrive on time, you may have to be rescheduled. There is allotted for cleaning after every client, therefore, it is imperative that you are timely. We are unable to book for a specific stylist unless you are getting an Extension Service. For these services, please e-mail the salon at for your appointment.
  • We ask that you come to your appointment alone as guests (even children) are not allowed to wait in our salon.
  • Each of our staff members will have their temperature taken upon entry and will be unable to work if their temperature exceeds 99 degrees. Staff members will wear masks, face shields and gloves while inside our shop and serving clients. Staff will wear disposable capes and will wash their hands between each client. Each wash bowl, chair, station and tool will be cleaned, sterilized or washed (where applicable) in between clients. The salon will undergo deep cleaning nightly.
  • Clients must wear face-coverings/masks upon entering the shop. Prior to being checked in, clients temperature will be taken via contactless digital forehead thermometer. If your temperature is over 99 degrees we will not be able to service you that day. Upon entry, you will be asked to wash your hands in the bathroom after having your temperature taken. You will also be asked to sanitize your cell phone. We ask that you bring in as few personal items as possible.
  • Clients will be required to sign a waiver and agreement stating the associated potential risk and potential exposure to illness.

Due to the new expenses associated with ensuring the safety of clients and our staff, we are temporarily suspending any discounts on services provided in the past, including $10 off Tuesdays, etc.

We recognize the anxiety, fear and sheer difficulty this time has presented many.  Please know that while these procedures are a major change for our salon and seem quite cumbersome at first, the process can be simple.  We ask for your patience as we do our best to keep you and our staff safe.

We recognize that re-entry is a personal decision, and some of us just aren’t ready. We are doing our best to accommodate our clients who have been asking for a solution. We hope that this one is temporary, and that we are able to get back to “normal” as soon as possible. We will be adding additional open days, as necessary – and we are open to suggestions. If you would like to contact us or give a suggestion, please e-mail:

Flow cannot thank you enough for your continued support during this transitional time. We would like to express our sincere appreciation for your trust in us.

We hope to see you soon. Stay safe!
